Coffee has always played an important role in the workplace. It creates pauses between meetings, conversations between colleagues, and small rituals throughout the day. In many offices, coffee is one of the few things every team member interacts with daily. Yet despite this, office coffee has often remained an afterthought.
For years, workplace coffee was built around convenience rather than quality. Commodity blends, overly dark roasts, stale beans, and fully automated systems became the standard in offices around the world. Coffee was treated as fuel rather than part of hospitality, culture, or everyday experience.
That is starting to shift.
A New Standard for Office Coffee
Modern work culture has evolved significantly over the last decade. Offices are no longer only places of productivity. They have become social spaces that reflect company culture, values, hospitality, and attention to detail. At the same time, people’s expectations around coffee have changed dramatically.
Many coffee drinkers who brew specialty coffee at home no longer want to compromise once they arrive at work. Espresso, cappuccino, filter coffee, oat milk drinks, fully automatic machines, home espresso setups, and manual brewing methods are all part of daily coffee culture today.
This shift created the foundation for our Allrounder.
Why We Created Allrounder
With Allrounder, we wanted to create a coffee that truly works for everyone while maintaining the quality standards we expect from specialty coffee.
The profile is intentionally approachable and comforting. Sweet chocolate notes, soft nut characteristics, balanced sweetness, and a full body create a coffee that performs exceptionally well with milk while remaining equally enjoyable as a straight espresso. For cappuccino, flat white, café latte, or black coffee, Allrounder was designed to adapt naturally to different brewing styles and preferences.
At THE BARN, this flexibility matters to us because coffee is personal. In offices especially, one coffee often needs to satisfy many different people and brewing habits throughout the day.
A Coffee Designed for Everyday Brewing
Allrounder is a single origin coffee from Brazil, sourced through our long-standing producer relationships and farm partnerships. The coffees are hand-picked, carefully processed, and fully traceable. The beans grow at elevations between 1000 and 1200 metres above sea level. At these altitudes, the coffee develops with a softer bean structure compared to high-altitude coffees from regions such as Ethiopia or Colombia.
This makes the coffee especially well suited for home espresso machines, grinders, and fully automatic equipment. The beans are easier to dial in and more forgiving across a wide range of brewing setups without sacrificing flavour quality. The coffee is naturally processed, meaning the beans are slowly dried inside the coffee cherry over several weeks. During this drying phase, the coffee absorbs sweetness and fruit characteristics from the cherry itself, creating a more aromatic and expressive cup profile.
Natural processing also requires significantly less water than washed processing methods, making it an important part of more environmentally conscious coffee production in many producing regions.
One Roast for Every Brewing Method
Allrounder is roasted as an Omni Roast, making it suitable across all brewing methods. Whether prepared on an espresso machine, fully automatic machine, filter coffee brewer, V60, French Press, Moka Pot, or stovetop brewer, the coffee maintains balance, sweetness, and structure in the cup. For us, this versatility is particularly important in office environments where brewing equipment and coffee preferences can vary significantly from one person to another.
The goal was never to create a complicated coffee. Instead, we wanted to create a coffee that feels intuitive, reliable, and enjoyable throughout the entire day.
Morning espresso. Afternoon cappuccino. Filter coffee during meetings. Coffee shared with colleagues.
A coffee that simply works.
Coffee Subscriptions for Offices and Everyday Life
Allrounder is available through our Office Coffee Subscription and was developed specifically for offices, studios, creative spaces, and teams that consume larger volumes of coffee on a daily basis. At the same time, the subscription works equally well for home users who drink multiple coffees throughout the day and want a reliable specialty coffee always available at home.
Our minimum subscription size starts at one kilogram, which is often ideal for a two-person household or regular coffee drinkers consuming several coffees per day. Because our coffees are roasted lightly, they degas slowly and maintain their quality for an extended period after roasting. We generally recommend allowing the coffee to rest for around two weeks after roast date before brewing. After resting, the coffee continues to perform beautifully in the cup for many months and can easily be enjoyed for up to six months after roasting.
For us, great office coffee is not about complexity or exclusivity. It is about creating better daily rituals around coffee and making specialty coffee accessible in the moments where people drink it most.
