Our natural processed lot is intense and fruit-forward. Notes of dried fig, blueberry, and apricot are sweetly balanced. Fragrant vanilla and lavender will appear as it cools, with a defined complexity that is a signature of the farm.
The West Valley is the most prominent coffee growing region in Costa Rica. Most of its coffees are grown under protective shade, and produced on fertile clay.
The mountainous landscape is dominated by three volcanoes and a gentle tectonic depression, while the Pacific weather patterns create well-defined dry and wet seasons.
Volcan Azul is located on the edges of the Poás Volcano. For 5 generations, the producers have continued making coffee with the objective in mind of achieving excellence and superior quality.
The descendants of the founders families are acquiring natural tropical forest in order to protect and preserve the environment, and to reduce air contamination and global warming. It is their way of contributing to a better future for the generations to come.
The process for this lot starts when cherries are still on the tree. By constantly measuring the Brix sugar content level, Alejo and his team seek to identify the ideal moment to pick the coffee. Cherries are then sorted and transferred whole to raised beds for slow drying.
Love the coffee. Makes a wonderful cup. Flavor is fantastic. Would highly recommend the Barn. The communication was great. Im in the USA and will definitely order again.
Medium roast, slightly on lighter side. Taste notes are apparent dried figs, the vanilla they mention is a bit more subtle, overall very juicy coffee, amazing on espresso burrs. Not bad in milk drinks either but I generally enjoyed it more as straight espresso as semi turbo shot.
Couldn’t resist trying this one based on the name; as always, excellently rich coffee that is a pleasure to drink. We have a coffee press to make filter, which works well.
Diese Röstung schmeckt wie beschrieben. Facettenreich mit vollmundiger tiefe und ausgewogenen Aromen.
Really nice coffee for espresso. Using it as americano and for milk drinks. Recommended.
